Year 9,852. In the future, human society has all its needs met by machines, and experimentation threatens the established order. Tum Par and Jan Kal are a couple of scientists accused of conducting experiments forbidden by the World Council. Tum and Jan admit their guilt, but explain that it is not a crime to prepare for a terrible future, however distant it may be. The couple is found guilty and sentenced to banishment in the distant future, using the time machine built by themselves. As Jan and Tum predicted, the future is a wasteland inhabited by hostile reptilian humanoids. The Sun is dying and Humanity is only a memory. Escaping from the reptilians, Tum and Jan enter a building and discover that it is a mausoleum, the testament of the last vestiges of Humanity. Tum and Jan take enough evidence to defend their thesis and return to the 99th century using the time machine. The World Council reverses the sentence and orders Tum and Jan to continue their experiments and help rebuild scientific practice. But soon the skies turn red, terrible storms, earthquakes and cyclones ravage the entire planet. And the situation does not seem to be limited to Earth alone. Entropy takes over the entire universe. An inexorable force devours one world after another until it reaches Earth. With a last glimmer of hope, Tum and Jan send Bud, their son, back in time, to the 20th century, where he will be known as the Boy Wonder.
