The murderers who took the life of Al Masters had no idea what they were going to unleash with their brutal act. Linda Masters, Al's widow, burning with grief and fury, became a relentless vigilante as the Black Bride (originally the Black Widow). The positive influence of Bill Blake (a police detective) and young Tommy Reeves (bearer of the Djinni's magic marble) tempered her vengeful nature. Linda joined the Crime Busters and during World War II she was part of the Battle Squadron. The relationship between Detective Blake and Linda grew deeper and they finally got married. It is known that they had a daughter.
The Black Bride was very agile, a skilled fighter, willing to kill without remorse, and a better detective than the best investigators in the Holyoke Police Department.
