HISTORY
POWERS & WEAPONS
Jonathan Raymond and his brother Timothy were opposite sides of the same coin. While Jon was a good son and a model student, Tim was a juvenile delinquent, who would end up in jail. To try to understand his brother's behavior and perhaps even prevent it, Jonny studied criminology and became a well-known college professor in that field (as well as a successful mystery writer). However, the theory was not enough for him, so he developed a masked personality, the Web, with which he fought crime every night in a more prosaic way. During one of his adventures, he rescued Rose Wayne, a former student of Raymond, who would eventually discover his secret identity and become his lover and confidant. Raymond joined the Battle Squadron in 1942 and after the war he married Rose and dropped out of the mask. His memoirs became a best-selling book.
Raymond was an advanced jiu-jitsu practitioner and a natural acrobat. He used suction cups attached to the soles of his boots to allow him to walk on walls and hang from ceilings. He also used a gun that could launch a cable for going from building to building or a web for catching his opponents.
