          HISTORY          

When Virginia 'Ginny' Spears was a child, she used to spend her summers at the ranch of her grandfather, Don Diego Vargas, in Monterrey, Mexico. There she learned to ride and use the bullwhip. As an adult, Spears worked as district attorney assistant in Dynamic City. She got fed up with high crime rate and decided to become the lethal vigilante known as the Velvet Avenger. Ginny joined the Battle Squadron during World War II.

The Velvet Avenger had no superpowers, but was armed with a bullwhip and she had a devilish mastery in using it, so much so as to make her enemies shoot each other or themselves.
