The Young Defenders were four kids (Lefty, Beanie, Joanna and Slim) who worked as paperboys for the Daily Bulletin, the newspaper owned by Don Wright. The boys were also Captain Freedom's sidekicks, unknowing that the Captain and Wright were actually the same person.
