1930s, 20th century... A capsule crashes in the heart of Chicago. A young boy emerges completely unharmed, telling the incredible story that he is the last survivor of the distant planet Viro, destroyed by the explosion of its sun. The authorities do not believe his story and the boy is placed in an orphanage. But when evil forces threatened truth, justice and the American way of life, Wonder Boy (as the newspapers called him) left the orphanage and faced them, using the incredible superhuman abilities he possessed. Wonder Boy found a father figure and an ally in Professor Benson, and a friend and later the love of his life in Sally, the professor's daughter. With Professor Benson's help, the boy discovers that he really comes from the Earth of the future (the 99th century, specifically). His name is Bud Par and he is the son of Tum Par and Jan Kal, a couple of scientists who studied the time stream. A catastrophe of universal proportions forced his parents to send him back in time to save his life. Bud, now Wonder Man, joined the Crime Busters and soon after the Battle Squadron. After the war, he and Sally married. Years later, Bud helped another survivor of the End of All Time, his cousin An Kal, also named Ann Starr (whom everyone would later come to know as Superstar) understand her true origin and powers.
Faster than a locomotive, more powerful than a cannonball, able to travel from one city to another in a single jump... His powers increased over the years. His highly advanced brain allowed him to limited matter control, giving him the ability to fly and even accelerate or stop atoms, to increase or decrease the temperature. His mind became powerful enough to see through walls, and even the thoughts of mortals.
