UNUSUAL FEATURES: Nathan has two large bird-like wings on his upper back and bird-like eyes. Other than that and his great height, he has a relatively "normal" appearance.
The Deaglos were a race of bird-men created by the magic of the Black Dragon, an evil sorcerer. The Black Dragon created the Deaglos by using the spirit of an extinct bird to turn all of his prisoners into 20-foot-tall bird-like humanoids capable of speech and reason, but without free will (the perfect slave-soldiers). The Black Dragon sent his Deaglos to destroy the British fleet, but they were stopped by Jonathan Force (Magic Agent). Nathan Hale was a young orphan transformed into one of these creatures until Force freed them. A group of Deaglos decided to remain in avian form and set out in search of a new home to nest in. The rest were transformed back into humans by the Magic Agent. Nathan for some unknown reason retained some of the Deaglos' characteristics and was placed in the custody of Drake Stevens, a scientist specializing in ornithology and aeronautics (who was also the hero Air-Man). The boy was raised alongside Ken, Drake's son, who nicknamed him "Souvenir" Hale. When the boys reached adulthood they joined other heirs of the Crime Busters to form the Young Heroes team. Nathan became the Deaglo and Ken became Airborne.
Nathan is able to fly thanks to his deaglo wings. He can withstand a tremendous amount of physical damage and heal very quickly, or fly for long periods of time without needing to rest. He also possesses superhuman senses (especially the sense of sight) and, like some birds, he is also capable of detecting the north direction. It's unclear, but he might have the ability to communicate, to some degree, with birds. Nathan Hale was a good fighter, well trained by his foster parents.
