          HISTORY

This story began many years before Doris Parker was born. A watchmaking genius made a pair of gauntlets of a very, very special metal (impervium) for a nobleman of Hungarian origin, who used them to deliver justice. Time passed and the gauntlets ended up in an auction house in France. Walter Parker, Doris' father, was a wealthy tobacco businessman as well as a major collector of rare items. During a business trip to France, Mr. Parker couldn't resist acquiring them. However, another bidder did not seem to agree with this and sent some thugs to retrieve the gauntlets. Mr. Parker refused to hand them over, the situation got complicated and the henchmen killed the businessman and put him in a trunk. The irony was that the gauntlets were hidden in a false bottom in that very trunk. Two weeks later, Doris received her father's personal belongings, including the trunk, and she made the most macabre of discoveries, her father's corpse. She also found the gauntlets and the pain gave way to the fury. Seeking revenge, Doris plunged into the criminal underworld, donning the Impervium gauntlets and calling herself Scarlet Sable. She managed to piece the puzzle together until she found the one responsible for her father's death, and then executed him. After this, Miss Parker fell into a self-destructive spiral of crime and hedonism and only one thing kept her from ending up dead or behind bars: Doug Danville, aka The Black Owl. Together they started a new life, got married and had a child, Belle. Much later, fate wanted Belle to repeat the story of her mother, but that's another story...
